Note: Many take note of what Jesus had stated in Matthew 24:36 regarding speculation on when the end would come, "Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father. Since the aspects of this statement have been modified, as afterward Jesus had stated in Matthew 28:18 that, "All authority has been given me in heaven and on the earth". So likely then or at the latest when he became the military leader in 1914 he was made aware of the time of the end. As the General of all Generals, and commander of all righteous forces by ultimate theistic decree (Revelation 6:2; 19:11, 14) he knows the proper time to carry out his assigned duties. This does not mean that such information would be passed on to those yet residing in the earth. However, such could be countered with what he also had stated at one time, that "I no longer call YOU slaves, because a slave does not know what his master does. But I have called YOU friends, because all the things I have heard from my Father I have made known to YOU." (John 15:15) This would indicate that Jesus could make such things known to his disciples, including something as important as when the end, Jehovah's Day, would arrive. However, it must be remembered that even though Jesus plainly revealed many things to his disciples in the first century, they often continued dull of understanding (Mark 8:17), and many of the things understood were done so afterward, and not always before or during. (John 16:4) We could be now staring at the information, but haven't yet put it together, waiting until after the fulfillment to slap our forheads in hindsight realization. It is possible, though not clearly and directly supported in the scriptures, that those of the heavenly class are also now aware of the day and time of the end. (John 15:15; 1Corinthians 6:2) There is no basis that I can find which would indicate those on earth would know, until the specific events unfold indicating that the time "is now", and too late for would-be waiters up-to the last moment, in an effective "one day". (Revelation 18:8) The closer we get to the Day of Jehovah, the more intensly occupied we should be with our assigned work. (Matthew 28:19, 20; Romans 10:13-15) And the further we leave behind any point in time, the more impetus we should put into paying attention to God's Word and His commands, publicly declaring the imminent rescue of all groaning mankind. (Romans 8:22; Revelation 12:10) It should be also noted that Habakkuk warned us in 2:3 that when, from a human standpoint, it seems like Jehovah's Day has been delayed, this is the warning indicator that the end is illustratively "breathing down our necks" in close pursuit. The worst time, if ever, to quit or give up. So even if the "highest point of convergence" (HPC, see chart below) has long passed by, then it only serves to highlight the original intended message of Matthew 28:18, "that only those who need to know, do know". (Acts 1:7) The sense of urgency should only increase, so in the mean time, keep busy (1Corinthians 15:58) and the time will seem to pass quickly. (Revelation 22:12) In fact, much quicker than we would think. (Matthew 24:42) |

It has been pointed out to me that Satan the Devil would know exactly when Eve was created and that he would know exactly when Adam and Eve sinned, since he observed the first event and was the instigator of the latter. This being the case, if such a surmising were possible, then he too could read scriptures (Matthew 4:6) and come up with at least the same rough calculations on the time of the end. Probably even more accurate than these. It would be dangerous to underestimate God's enemy and think this is not at least a possibilty, and that he too is not making this attempt, as Revelation 12:12 indicates that the Devil knows he has a short period of time, and does not rule out that he wouldn't know how short of a time remains. However, in all fairness to logic and caution, this also does not indicate that Satan's surmisings on this would be anymore valid than that of an earthly servant of Jehovah. There is, quite simply, not enough evidence that anyone held within the bounds of earth's gravitational area of influence would actually know the day and the hour as to the end of the old system of things. And this could be partly why he and his demon hordes were removed from heaven, so that this information, if passed around to others in heaven in preparation for the releasing of the four winds (Revelation 7:1), would not be allowed to be 'overheard' in angelic conversations by Satan nor his demons. This leads to one more element of uncertainty in any attempt at calculation as well, in that no one but Jehovah himself will know when the last anointed servant is sealed. (Romans 8:16; Galations 4:6; Revelation 7:3) This event is not tied to the creative account, nor to any other calendar event, in fact as the first verse of Revelation chapter 7 indicates, can indeed cause a delay of event schedules until it is finalized and accomplished. As one brother I know put it, "I certainly hope I am not the one delaying things. I'd hate to get there and everyone's asking me `what was the hold-up?`" Which, once again, only gives further impetus to remaining alert and keeping busy. When the Armaggedon "axe" falls, we should be found in mid-motion serving
our Great God, and not sitting there with a calendar and
a calculator. Knowing when is not a requirement nor expectation of approval and survival by God. (Mark 16:16 Acts 2:21; Romans 8:24)
